Mona Howe is a scriptwriter and a video journalist. She discovered her passion for broadcasting in 2013 after working as a commercial talent in Florida for five years. As a commercial talent, she worked with clients such as Home Shopping Network, Bright House Networks, Publix Super Markets, Walt Disney World, Visit Orlando, Volvo Garmin, Motorola, and Orlando Health to name a few. Her training in the field included Scene Study, Meisner, Core Film I, Film Scene Study, Film Audition, Improv, and On-Camera Casting. While working in this industry, she started falling in love with on-camera storytelling. The inner workings of production left her enthralled and thirsty for knowledge that could only be satisfied by furthering her education. She decided to pursue a new degree in radio and television journalism (R-TV) with a minor in digital media at the University of Central Florida. Studying journalism has given her a chance to be a voice for the voiceless; it has provided her with a forum to express herself. Her mission is to practice integrity, courage, passion, and creativity while treating each and every assignment with respect and objectivity it deserves.
The broadcasting program at UCF taught her many things about cross-platform reporting, writing, and photography that she never thought imaginable. On the technical side, she has become proficient in video and sound editing, using Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Audition, Rundown Creator and WordPress to create a variety of news packages and newscasts. The University and its institutions have been an indispensable resource to her out-of-class professional development. During her last year at UCF, she was offered a position at WESH2 News as the Associate News Producer in a market 18 station. She worked as a part-time AP and assist the evening producers in writing and other aspects of the newscasts. As a broadcast journalist, Mona hopes to combine her affinity for travel with her newfound news writing and broadcasting skills to tell stories of cultures, peoples, and places untold.
